The failure performance of mechanical seal and the causes:

    1. The mechanical seal vibrates or heats up. During the rotation of the equipment, the faying surface of the rotating ring and static ring will be rough. The gap between the rotating ring and static ring and the sealing cavity is too small. Runout causes collisions, which leads to vibrations. Sometimes due to the poor corrosion resistance and temperature resistance of the seal face, or insufficient cooling will make mechanical seal vibrate and heat up. The same result can occur when the end face is clamped with particle impurities during installation.

    2. The medium of mechanical seal leaks.When installing the mechanical seal, due to carelessness, the seal face is often bruised, deformed, damaged, not clean, or trapped with particulate impurities.Sometimes, the positioning screw gets loosened; the gland is not compressed tightly; the accuracy of the machine and equipment is not enough, which will cause   the seal face not completely fitted and lead to medium leakage.     3. The mechanical seal leaks periodically or fitfully. The periodic vibration or axial endplay of the rotor assembly of the mechanical seal are too large, which will cause the leakage.

    4. Mechanical seal often leaks. There are many reasons for the frequent leakage of mechanical seals. Firstly, the defect in the seal face will lead to the leakage. Secondly, the defect in the auxiliary seal ring will lead to the leakage. Thirdly, the defect in the spring will lead to the leakage. Beyond that, the poor quality or looseness of thrust parts can also cause leakage.

    5. The mechanical seal vibrates too much and eventually loses its sealing effect. The source for large vibration is usually not only the mechanical seal itself, but also the other components of the pump.
